Boksuneun naui geot (2002). This is the story of Ryu, a deaf man, and his sister, who requires a kidney transplant. Ryu's boss, Park, has just laid him off, and in order to afford the transplant, Ryu and his girlfriend develop a plan to kidnap Park's daughter. Things go horribly wrong, and the situation spirals rapidly into a cycle of violence and revenge.
Manjong (1970). The son of a mute couple succeeds in getting a good job, but is dismayed when he learns that he may have gotten the job, not based on his business skill, but on his ability to speak sign language. This rumor comes about because the boss has a deaf daughter whom he wants to marry off as soon as possible.
Sad Movie (2005). When Lee Jin-woo rescued Su-eun from a fire they both defied the odds in surviving. Su-eun works as a "character" in an amusement park. Her face was scared in the fire, and in addition she is a deaf mute. Feeling free to be more forward when in costume behind a large "Raggedy-Ann" head, she approaches a handsome artist who frequents the park to paint. He starts to come infatuated with her, despite never having seen her face or heard her voice. Separation looms as a possible outcome for all of [the] inter-twined souls who live and love in Seoul, Korea.

www.disabilityfilms.co.uk. Adada. Film (1989) South Korea, 120 min, Drama. Set in 1920s Korea. Adada is a deaf young woman who enters into an arranged marriage with what appears to be a pleasant, young man. However some years later her husband becomes involved with drink and prostitutes and abruptly leaves her. He makes his fortune, marries again, returns and boots her out of the house. Poor Adada does find love with a poor man from her village but he too goes off the tracks when he becomes obsessed with making money.

(2004, May 17). Korean's calling is to the deaf. Though Min Seo Park has been deaf since he was a toddler, no one in his native South Korea recognized the disability until he was a teenager. Park suffered for years in school, unable to read, write or communicate.
(2004, February 8). DODDS now offering classes in sign language. While it takes years to master, Seoul American High School students have started learning ASL during an elective period, the first offered at the school, blessed by principal Keith Henson.
(2003, June 11). Manoa school first to offer sign language credit. Samantha Kuwata, 15, admits that she first enrolled in American Sign Language because she thought it had to be easier than learning Japanese. Two years later, Kuwata isn't so sure. But she's proud that she is among the first hearing students in the state — all attending Saint Francis School in Manoa — to learn American Sign Language.
Deaf Today. (2003, February 7). Handicapped to Teach Sculpture. Thirty-year-old Shin Il-su has been appointed as an instructor at the University of Seoul to teach environmental sculpture in the coming spring semester. With congenital hearing and speech impairments, Shin chose art as his profession from the fifth grade after reading about master painter Kim.
Deaf Today. (2003, February 2). A firm hold. Blind and nearly deaf, Loyola High's Nikos Daley has been able to grasp a little glory and much satisfaction as a junior varsity wrestler.
WASLI. Scenes from Segovia. There are 350,000 deaf people in Korea and they have had to lobby government to allow them to have the ability to learn to drive. Subtitles are put on some programmes. There is a sign language centre that provides the training and examinations for interpreters and they offer a video relay interpreting service. There are 766 interpreters in Korea and there are 145 at the interpreter centre. They would like to see the welfare of deaf people improved in their country so that they had more rights, as do their hearing counterparts.
