Organizations

Emplois au PNUD. Turkmen Deaf and Blind Society (DBS) is the main organization in Turkmenistan which provides employment and vocational training services to visually and hearing impaired. It is also an active actor in implementation of development projects supported by the international organizations in Turkmenistan. With support of the United Nations Development Programme in Turkmenistan (UNDP) the Deaf and Blind Society implements the project on «Social-Economic Integration of Visually and Hearing Impaired” aimed at the development of sustainable approaches to integration of visually and hearing impaired people into economic and social activities. The project will engage services of an international expert, who would assist the DBST in developing a draft of the national strategy for social and economic integration of the disabled.

UNDP Turkmenistan/Deaf and Blind Society of Turkmenistan - Joint Project on Social and Economic Integration of Visually and Hearing Impaired. It has a membership of over 2,500 blind/visually-impaired and deaf/hard-of-hearing people from major cities. Its objective is to protect the rights and interest of the target groups, facilitate social rehabilitation and integration and provision of employment services. Currently, it provides employment opportunity for more than 600 of its members in different production facilities such as sewing workshop, publishing house, locks production workshop, carton making facilities and others. The DBS also supports organization of various sports and cultural events, provides medical services to its members and to the extent possible access to special library for visually and hearing impaired people.
